Music and early childhood development
Music is a valuable activity that not only ignites a child’s creative spirit, it also contributes immensely to his/her cognitive development. Studies have shown that music can help with language skills, motor skills, boost memory and improve abstract reasoning. We recognize that many parents are eager to get their children started on music lessons, however most children under the age of 6 do not yet have the discipline or attention that is required for learning to play a musical instrument especially with the commitment to daily practice that it demands. We are offering this program as a solution to the parent’s eagerness and desire to expose their children to the joy and benefits of a musical education as early as possible.

Introduction to rudimentary musical concepts
Our Music Initiation classes are held in groups of 3 or 4 children at a time and are specifically designed to provide plenty of stimulation to ensure the young child’s attention and interest are maintained. In these classes the focus is not on learning to play a particular musical instrument, but rather they are intended as an introduction to rudimentary musical concepts such as beats, rhythms, movements and sounds. Like language development, toddlers develop their musical skills through imitating and memorizing rhythms and tones of songs such as clapping to a beat and singing in tune. Music initiation will provide the child with a solid starting point for the future learning of a musical instrument and will more importantly have a lasting beneficial impact on his academic and personal development.
