CIATA JOHNSON

CIATA JOHNSON
Piano teacher
Studies: Bachelor in music, ongoing, McGill University
DEC in music, Collège Vanier
Ciata is a pianist and piano teacher in the Montreal area. She is passionate about piano pedagogy and holds a DEC in music from Vanier College in classical piano and a diploma in piano pedagogy from the Gorin Institute. She is currently pursuing a Bachelor of Music degree from McGill University. She enjoys making music lessons educational, yet fun, creative and memorable. Her desire is for students to just be students – to have a safe space to learn and make mistakes, helping them build their confidence little by little.
She believes that music is an art, but like any art there is a science or technique behind it, which means it can be learned! Thus, she also hopes to teach techniques that could equip students for effective expression, appropriate for your age, from young too old. She is classically trained, but is willing to teach other styles. Her teaching also includes music theory and ear training (solfège). If you are looking to play for your own enjoyment or for piano exams/special performances (i.e. Royal Conservatory of Music), she will be happy to guide you!
