SAMUEL THERRIEN

Piano teacher

Studies: Jazz Studies at l’Université de Montréal

Influences: Jazz, piano pop and classical

From the age of 6, Samuel was fascinated by the piano. He enrolled in a music school in his region, Sorel-Tracy, where he took classes focused on classical technique. When he was only 11 years old, he participated in a competition called L’Échelle du Talent, where he won first place with his band.

This performance encouraged him to push his musical career further. In high school, he worked with a private teacher with whom he learned to transcribe popular songs with ease, to analyze and arrange jazz pieces and to interpret classical pieces by great composers such as Chopin and Rachmaninoff. In his third year of high school, he won the Secondaire en Spectacle competition in his region thanks to his efforts, hard work and rapid progress.

After multiple performances on the local scene in different music groups, Samuel left to study Jazz at Cégep Saint-Laurent. He is currently studying Jazz interpretation at the University of Montreal and has been awarded a scholarship for his great musical abilities. Samuel is a very active musician on the local Montreal and Saint-Laurent scene, whether for corporate events, private parties, festivals, composition projects or background music.

Samuel distinguishes himself by his amazing musical ear and his great pedagogy. It will be a great pleasure for him to share his passion for music theory and to teach you the basics of piano.
