Frequently Asked Questions — Applications

How do I apply for a music teacher position?
Fill out the application form on this page with your instruments, education, and experience. Attach your CV if possible. We'll review your profile and contact you for an interview if your application is selected.
Do I need a music degree to teach?
A university degree in music is a major asset, but it's not an absolute requirement. We also value performance experience, teaching experience, and a genuine passion for music. If you have a rich background and a solid teaching approach, we'd love to hear from you.
How long does it take to hear back after applying?
We carefully review every application. If we have a position matching your profile, we'll contact you within two weeks. If no position is immediately available, your CV will be kept on file in our candidate pool.
Can I substitute teach while waiting for a permanent position?
Absolutely! Check the 'substitute teaching' box in the application form. Substituting is a great way to join our team and get to know our school while waiting for a permanent position to open up.
Is bilingualism required to teach here?
French is mandatory for all our teachers, as the majority of our students are francophone. French-English bilingualism is a valuable asset since we also welcome anglophone students, but it's not required.
Can I visit the school before applying?
Of course! If you're in the area, drop by 288 rue Jean-Talon Est. We'd be happy to welcome you, show you around, and answer any questions in person.
